Spider Vein Removal in Reading

Dramatically reduce your spider veins non-surgically

Millions of women are bothered by spider veins, those small yet unsightly clusters of red, blue, or purple veins that most commonly appear on the thighs, calves, and ankles. In fact, it’s estimated that at least half of the adult female population is plagued with this common cosmetic problem. If you find yourself covering up with pants and long skirts, you’re not alone—and Berks Plastic Surgery has options for you.

What is Sclerotherapy…and How Can it Help Me?

Sclerotherapy is a nonsurgical procedure that can significantly reduce the appearance of spider veins, often in as little as one or two treatments. During a personalized consultation with one of our board certified plastic surgeons or lead nurse injector, we will help determine if sclerotherapy is right for you or if you may benefit more from another option, such laser vein therapy.

If we think sclerotherapy will provide you with great results, we will settle you in one of our private, comfortable treatment rooms. Dr. Brian Reedy or our lead nurse injector Maria Fotis, RN, will carefully and precisely inject a mild sclerosant solution directly into your spider veins using a tiny needle. This solution causes the unsightly veins to collapse and fade from view over time.

Treatment typically takes around 30 minutes depending on the number of veins being treated. Treatment is minimally invasive and most patients resume normal activity right away, but you will be required to wear special compression stockings for a few days following treatment to promote optimal healing and protect your results.

The procedure may also remedy the bothersome symptoms associated with spider veins, including aching, burning, swelling, and night cramps.

How Safe is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is an incredibly safe procedure that has been used since the 1930s! While any “needle prick” comes with some risks, patients who follow all aftercare guidelines have a very low risk of experiencing any complications or uncomfortable side effects.

Remember: spider veins are not always just an annoying cosmetic flaw. Some patients may have associated pain or other symptoms that may complicate treatment. It’s important to discuss any concerns or medical conditions you have with your provider to ensure your treatment is safe and successful.
