The patient was a 69-year-old female who presented to Dr. Reedy because of a visual field obstruction caused by blepharochalasis and upper lid ptosis. In order to correct the conditions that affected her vision, Dr. Reedy performed a bilateral upper lid blepharoplasty. The procedure removed the excess skin and muscle weighing down the lids. While this procedure addressed the medical condition affecting the patient’s visual field, it also addressed the asymmetry of the lids that the patient had previously been bothered by. While the blepharoplasty procedure itself has a very small incision, it truly can have a dramatic affect by improving eye site for patients whose brow and lid issues obstruct the visual field. The patient was not only happy with the visual improvement but also the esthetic improvement that was achieved by the procedure.
